St. Mark Lutheran Church - a community of people who find joy and hope for daily living in the Promise God makes to us through Jesus Christ, and who share that joy and hope by serving one another, our neighborhood, and the world.
Calendar of Events Click here for a list of current events in the life of our church. St.Mark and St.George's Churches Together In 1982 St. George's Parish invited St. Mark Lutheran Church to use its buildings for worship and its other ministries. Since that time the two congregations have worshipped and worked side by side. By sharing the same buildings, St. Mark and St. George's live out a 1982 agreement between the Episcopal Church and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America which encourages congregations of both denominations to share facilities, carry out joint programs in education and community outreach, and authorizes Joint Celebrations of the Holy Eucharist. St. Mark and St. George's live out that agreement also by their joint operation of one of the larger food pantries in St. Clair County, by sponsoring occasional joint educational programs, and by celebrating the Holy Eucharist together on Epiphany, Ascension Day, and All Saints Day. The people and clergy of St. Mark and St. George's Church have discovered
that joint celebration of worship, together with the joint use of buildings
and shared outreach ministries have enhanced their mission and ministry
in the Belleville area. They hope that these joint ministries provide
a working model of ecumenical cooperation built on mutual respect for
our differences but especially on the belief that we have been made One
in Christ through our Baptism and through our Faith that Jesus Christ
is Savior and Lord, |
